BTW, that was the most people I have seen on a flag run in the time I was in APO, around 90 people!

Because it would kill the hippies down in Austin to actually put out an *AMERICAN* flag. Such patriotism is strictly looked down upon in the People's Republic of Travis County. Although I have heard that they roll out a military color guard occasionally... so they can spit on them!

Actually, the US flag code for the national flag states that you shouldn't ever display the flag by carrying it flat and parallel to the ground. You can put it on a flagpole, on a wall, raised off of a vehicle, or on a casket for a hero's burial, or off of a flagstaff projecting from a building.
The Texas flag code on the other hand, almost copies this same US section verbatim, but does NOT have a provision against carrying the flag flat like we do.
