@ChasNDaveVideos Yeah, there were too many inconsistancies with that story. Though Jerry said that they did clash when they first met, only to become friends immediately after.

@RoughBoy1056 Actually, that's blues, but anyway, I meant the dude in the hat at 0:26 - is he SRV?

I think all music started in the U.S. Ragtime, Jazz, Boogie Woogie, Country, Rock and Roll, Blues, Rap, My goodness what a legacy.

@1pick2sticks There was music long before that in Europe & Africa, etc.

@peterdchecksfield
Yeah, Classical. But what has England or Europe done since? Skiffel?

@1pick2sticks My point is that the roots of most "American" music can be traced back to other countries. For example the bluegrass & country songs that The Everly Brothers grew up with are often of Scottish & Irish origin; the cajun & zydeco of Louisiana can be traced back to France; & the primal rhythms of Bo Diddley & John Lee Hooker aren't that far removed from those in Africa. As for us in England, we added our own home-grown influences such as "music hall" to Americans rock (& roll) etc..

@peterdchecksfield ...which is why Lonnie Donegan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones & all the other 50s & 60s (UK) greats came up with something a little different to what the Americans did, & then influenced worldwide of course. So to say that non-classical music only started in America is over-symplifying things (& I don't think native "red Indian" Americans had much of an influence on music).
