The two MAIN types of screams are fry and death chord. Fry is basically what you would imagine a scream to sound like if you were blowing your lungs out and can be high or low. Most bands use this type. Death is also a common scream and it's used for grunting, growling, and gurgly screams. The choice is yours and it all depends on your style.

  • Alright... just to clarify for you guy, here are some example bands of the 3 types of screaming, they each have a slight distinction and could be wrong with a few of these but here...

Fry - Alesana, blessthefall, All that Remains, The Black Dahlia Murder(death at times)

False Chord - The Devil Wears Prada (fry fry at times), We Came as Romans, Miss May I, Lamb of God (fry at times)

Death - Dying Fetus, Suicide Silence(fry at times), Dethklok

I think you get the idea now.

  • I wish I could do all of the above D:

  • Fry screaming can fuck up your throat

  • Gurgly - what does it mean?

  • @crowbrat1 thats what im aiming for >:) and i just need 1 more and that is terrodactyl screach :p, i got every one of em down including slipknot, haha, i just need to define them a bit more,

  • frys alot more fun and easy to do its just more smoother i frankly only use death when singing if i really want to get that part of the lyrics out there :D

  • I'm fry and death cos I'm that damn good :D

  • can someone please tell me what type of screams For All I am uses for their mids? seriously look them up if you havent heard of them ive heard this type of scream a couple times before but don't know what it is. i guess it could be just a very unique virsion of fry or false chord but i can do both fry and false chord and i can also do this type and it's a completely different way than any of the others

  • @pHDinSnowcones Asking Alexandria is fry. Usually fry is just screaming using your own voice, that's why some bands that fry don't have another singer (not saying all). Compared to bands that use false chord, have a screamer and a singer. Fry also kind of has that high pitched screechy sound like TDWP, Asking Alexandria, Of Mice and Men, Architects, bands like that, where False Chord is literally using your false voice and most of the time making a more brutal low or high.

  • @MaikuSenpai What's the difference between False and Death Chord? They're both the exact same technique, some bands just can go really low using false chord like Suicide Silence or go really high. That's why Suicide Silence and We Came As Romans sound different, not because their types of screams are different but because one can do different ranges of screams and such.

  • All That Remains does fry screams :).

  • @MaikuSenpai Help me out here man, i cant tell the diffrence really, so, is asking alexandria fry or false? Also, what about inhale? does that fall under one?
