Jeffrey Brown discusses the challenges and opportunities traditional media sources now face with Pew's Tom Rosenstiel and The New York Times' Brian Stelter.

If I watch CNN, I might get to hear about what's going on in Syria, but only after hearing about who the Kardashians are having sex with at the moment and how many times Mitt Romney farted in college.

I want real, important news that has an effect on my life, and channels like this, on YouTube, do so much better a job at providing that to me.

Wow, we can actually comment? Anyways...

Sorry, Newshour, but you guys missed a giant piece of the new media puzzle that is the internet/Youtube: alternative news sources, as in RT, Current etc, and user uploaded clips from MSNBC and Faux News & the like. TV network news are rightly on their death throes or on their way there as they've become nothing more than propaganda machines brainwashing the yet unawoken with the latest celebrity scandal & dumbed-down analyses reduced to a soundbite.

This is what happens when we no longer have any such thing as journalist integrity. Our media is not reliable anymore.

There is a perception among news consumers that traditional media organizations "don't tell us what to think, but what to think about." (Google the phrase for a variety of view points on the subject). I was surprised the News Hour did not have a citizen journalist on the panel. Next time, invite YouTube citizen journalist, "The Resident". Lori lives in New York City and will provide a prospective that is not in the Pew crib notes or press release.
