I rescued this rat from outside my porch, sitting on my door mat. It was starving. Now its healthy and tame. Not all rats have diseases. It is unfair to kill all of them.

  • how could you tell?I wanna get my own

  • Exactly the same as my little boy!

We rescued him when he was only days old because he was thrown out of his 'clan'. Our cats hurt him a little, but we got him back to health and raised him as a human.

Unfortunately I had to have him put down on Sunday at about nine months old. A parasite damaged his insides. Probably the biggest loss I've ever known. Such a beautiful, kind and happy spirit.

  • I have a fur child that looks like that cutie. I am a wildlife rehabber. A woman dropped off a box of rat babies to me, mistaking them for baby squirrels. I bottle fed all of them till their eyes opened to me. I released all of them back to the wild except for one who was more imprinted and domesticated. My lil girl looks just like yours. I am glad there are people in the world who give rodents a chance.

  • I meant to say "buy", not "pie" just a moment ago. That was embarrassing.

  • @Lyhraify Agreed! And humane traps are, hands down, less messy than glue traps, so it's certainly worth the extra cost to pie them.

A lot of animals will learn to not fear people when they understand the benefits. My mom has a crow at work who flies down every time she pulls up in her car. It's hilarious.

  • we use humane traps if we have an unwanted rat in the house. it dosn't hurt the rat just scares it a little. Then when we wake up in the morning we can just set it free outside. there is no need for glue traps when more humane methods exist.

  • looks like a cutiepie roof rat.. such a cutie

  • I see the many rats running on the top of yard wall fence, because I feed them so far....they know my voices, approach me and wait for me to put the food down then walk backward...they crawl down to the ground and eat it....they wouldn't harm me at all... I see them every morning and night as they come for the food from me... : )

  • @TheYellowtulip Oh i Know! its so sad :( my uncle killed a rat with a rat trap and i flipped out on him like he just shot someone. How can you kill an animal that can be so loving :) If i found a wild rat in my garage or something i wouldnt kill it. if it was health but some how got stuck in my house id catch it and set it free in a field where it wont be killed by some stupid person :/ I think its cute how you saved the little rat, it probrobly came to you cause it knew you would save it :)
