This is a short video of Jenny showing how to light the Shabbat candles. Very simple and not a lot of detail but beautiful and rich with meaning. This is one of the easiest initial ways that most people begin to incorporate some of the Jewish ceremonies into their family life. Most of our culture is passed on to the next generations in the home and I've heard it said that the evening meal is one of the best places for that to happen. What better way to celebrate G-d's provision for us than to keep his Sabbath holy and spread his love to our families and all around us? Visit us at Ohr Chadash at 3190 Gulf to Bay Blvd in Clearwater, Florida Friday nights at 8 PM. Or check out our website at www.ohrchadash.org -- Shabbat Shalom!

  • There is not one standard Jewish way to approach the Sabbath. It depends on which group you feel most comfortable worshiping with. Orthodox are most strictly Torah observant followed by conservative and reformed. Messianic are inclusive of the teachings of Yeshua the Messiah but not in the Christian sense. They are often confused for Christians with Jewish trappings unless you look closer. You must educate yourself and allow G-d to lead you in the path toward right worship of Him.

  • Thanks. It was a pleasure to do it. All praise to Ha Shem.

  • @Gwarad a prayer on Yom Kippur, for G-d to please atone me with the Jews, and that evening was miraculous for me. He started showing me things and leading me even stronger. My mother was born a Christian, but when she died - and I went through her things - I found many Sabbath candles. If I walked into a synagog on a Saturday morning for Sabbath, do you think I would be welcomed?

  • @Gwarad Thank you very much for responding. I have been keeping the Sabbath. I need to rewatch your video. I realized there are some things I should be doing, that I wasn't. G-d is leading me on a path, though born a Christian - I don't want to go to a church - I left after 20 years. He is telling me to eat Kosher, fast, honor the sabbath and follow Torah laws not just the ten commandments, and celebrate the 7 Festivals. This is hard because I have to do it alone. G-d is jewish. I said

  • @407rudeboy Thank you very much 407rudeboy. I have been doing this and what I believe is right and setting the day apart - I really appreciate your response. Thank you.

  • @Lorelle1020 lastly we do it the way G-d intended to set the 7 th day for rest, we dont complicate the day by doing "work " that will distract us from the meaning of the day.doing chores or going shopping at the mall, does not make the day"set apart" is just another day..shabat shalom,b'shem Yeshua!

  • @Lorelle1020 all that is the rabbinical, talmudic way of shabbat aka the orthodox way. as messianics we welcome shabbat as a time forfamily and worship my wife and i light the candles and bless our children and pray over the wine and bread, and have a small dinner. on saturday morning we go to messianic synagogue for th shabbat service(we drive there!) after service we have a communal meal called the oneg with our congregation, after that we go visit family and friends.

  • Thank you, your demonstration is helpful. I am a Christian, that wants to celebrate the Shabbat. I need help from my Jewish friends on how to correctly enter the Shabbat - as well as to learn what you should do and shouldn't do on the Shabbat. Are we to fast? I worked with people who went without electricity, didn't drive, no work, no shopping, could you please tell me what is proper for the Shabbat?

  • SHABBAT SHALOM!, i ateend services at Gesher Shalom in orlando

  • I am studyingthe Messianic faith. Thank you. Could you please post the blessing in Hebrew so I can read along and learn how to pronounce the words? Thank you! Baruch Hashem Adonai!
