The Embarrassment were a punk group (or blister pop, as they called themselves), from Wichita, Kansas. They were originally active from 1979-1983. Two of its members moved to Boston and helped form two bands, Big Dipper and The Del Fuegos, who also made awesome music.
This song, Sex Drive, was their first single (released in either 1979 or 1980), and part of the lyrics were quoted in the best selling book "What's the Matter with Kansas?" by Thomas Frank. If you like this, a 42 song career retrospective titled "Hey Day 1979-83" is available on CD and on iTunes.
All hail! The best band you never heard in your life. I'm tempted to say they changed my life, or something like that, but the truth is, they were just plain great and they don't need any stupid "testimonial" or whatever. Great band. Great song. Those were the days, the days ...
