  • The thing is, self-harm isn't usually random, irrational behavior. I stopped just over a year ago, and I'm still dealing with why I was doing it in the first place. For me, and for a lot of people, there are two main reasons. The first is to help numb the emotional pain. Usually, physical pain distracts you from your emotions and thoughts, even of its only temporary. The second is to try to feel like you have some kind of control over your life, and your feelings.
