Power Shift: Youth Climate Activists Swarm D.C. for Weekend of Organizing, Lobbying and Protest

On Monday, a large protest has been called at a coal-fired plant in Washington, D.C. in what organizers say will be largest act of civil disobedience against global warming in this country. In the days leading up to the protest, youth climate activists are organizing a conference called Power Shift 09. Thousands of student activists plan to lobby lawmakers on Capitol Hill, urging them to rebuild the economy through bold climate and clean energy policy. [includes rush transcript]

If these Green Twits would not have opposed the Constructions of a Few Nuclear Plants they would not have to Protest against Coal now would they?..... On Second thought ...yes they would. Same protest different generation. the AAAA Crowd. Against anything anytime anywhere.

identical words spoken by the concerned politically active student du jour, same words, different cause, refreshing that it is consistent in a way. eventually they will marry and work for the "establishment". , this protest is all about a cool way to meet chicks, nothing changed. kidding aside...

what is void in these discussions is the detail engineering to come up with alternatives,(49% of electricity comes from coal) , now that's tricky, the feel good statements is the easy part.

But today's event is just a few blocks a way from the White House at the the Capitol Power Plant--a dirty symbol of the dirtiest business on Earth, the combustion of coal.

In that one plant -- owned and operated by our senators and representatives -- you can see all the filth that comes with coal. There are the particulates it spews into the air and hence the lungs of those Washington residents who enjoy breathing.

I hope to God nobody is going to listen to this young lady or her organization.

Probably well meaning, but in fact, just a "repeater", acting on information she doesn't have.

I'm getting pretty tired of waiting for people to check the facts.

Global warming due to carbon emission is a farce. It's a bad theory that has now been disproven at just about every possible level.

Proposed "solutions" are even more of a farce.

Too bad so many have been suckered.
