who's last launch was this? and who is the pc launching? that looks like celaya or wilson, this looks ike one of those come in early because we have a pointless early flight

VAW-115 from CVW-5, out of Atsugi, Japan. Groupe 2 and beyond have a cross bleed system, but with the abuse that these big planes take, it does not always function. Having a back up helps. The carrier uses the same jet air huffer starting system. We used to start all hawkeyes in this manner. Nice to see the new props, sound great in the air.

I wonder why they don't use bleed air to start the opposite engine once the first one is running. I suppose the aircraft is designed with air starting in the first place because a carrier likely has a LOT of compressed air.

This was my last launch back when I was in VAW-115. Back in April 2008. Last time I worked on a real Naval Aircraft. You'll see me run with the fire bottle. Looke for the cranial that has 6R on it.
