This is how I taught my border collie puppy his future contact behavior. I will also teach him running contacts for the dogwalk and a-frame, but I will keep both options under stimulus control, just in case. • I wouldn't want my dog to do nose touches. It only teaches front end awareness and not rear end awareness which is what contacts are all about. I also want my dogs head up approaching the end of a contact.

  • @DawnWeaver1 Yes, there are pros and cons. But I really DO want nose touches, because it gives him an active behaviour at the end of the contact (instead of passive standing still). So I put a lot of work into teaching my dogs rear end awareness as an important part of the foundation training, and so far it seems like Kuling has no questions as to where his hind legs are supposed to go.

  • Hello, thank you very much for this wonderful video! It helps me so much with our 2o/2o, I think :o)

  • @skipesable Thanks for the comment, my hope was to explain to someone what I am thinking about how to do this.

  • Great content/progression on this video BUT the music on this video takes away from the material because you don't hear the clicks. Plus music does not appeal to everyone.

  • Thank you for this excellent video. I didnt know how to get the quick nose touch. God luck// Andreas, Göteborg Sweden
