  • How come sometimes they are wearing gi and sometimes they are not? What are the rules?

  • @jeyel71 It's a "triathlon" of three separate events: Submission grappling (gi), Sport Jiujitsu (MMA w/gi), and Grapple/Strike (MMA nogi)

  • Wow. I always thought Sonnon was a gun; certainly that he knew his Sambo and ROSS. I noticed a lot of naysayers on the web though who questioned his fighting record (not so relevant for a coach, I would have thought, but anyway). But this must silence a few critics! Gold medals in MMA in 2010, and the guy must be what? nearing 40? Very, very impressive achievements!

  • @CNCTEMATIC He's 41. It was a great victory for Sambo and Systema, and Sonnon.

  • Hi Coach Sonnon! Are you a BJJ Black Belt?

  • @mykhendrix No, he was asked to fight at black belt level due to his years of experience. He demonstrated the application of his Sambo skills to the Jiujitsu environment.

  • Very impressive!

  • @CNCTEMATIC As for the critics and naysayers, just remember, "they only try to tackle the one with the ball!"

  • Scott, you're an inspiration to all us "old" guys out here. Age is just a number. I hope I can overcome some of the hurdles life has thrown at me as well as you have.

  • so the other guys were bjj black belts? he was messing with bjj bb´s? this guy is awsome

  • Half his opponents are afraid of him!

  • Oh Scott should have his own country he won enough medals lol!
