@nurbSoldier Most of them still climb no more than 5000ft and they do so with more reasonable grades, paved roads, and not as much bad weather. Mt Evans may be the one notable exception.

by the way, what kind of rig are you using in terms of weight, frame, wheels and drivetrain?

How could this be the worlds most difficult hill climb? I doubt it is the hardest in the USA, considering that the mountains of Colorado, Wyoming and Montana are bigger.

World's 'most difficult' may not be exactly accurate in terms of shear steepness (although it is close), but it is, without a doubt, home of the 'world's worst weather' (browse the Mt. Washington website). The actual race day brought 50mph winds, 40 degree temps, and mist...in July. This coupled with an average of 12% grade and extended sections of >18% made it pretty damn hard.
I used a 22 / 25 gearing combo. Average box section clinchers with a powertap. The bike weighed about 16lbs.
