..what I meant was the first outlets to move from their restuarants to the outside 'al fresco style' into the square during the summer months.. obviously these renounded eateries have been about for sometime :-)

..actaully lets not forget this 'old town' was totally distroyed in WWII and was totally restored back to its former glory afterwards, so all what you see is not so old really.
Yes the night life is relatively new, I recall sitting out in some of the first few 'pubs' restaurants in the open square in 92-93, before the whole square filled up with them, a very nice place to be.
Now there's even a night club just off this square.

Stunning. It is great how many European nations seem to leave their older buildings intact instead of tearing them down to build entertainment inlets. Obviously buildings that are crumbling apart and dangerous to the public should be torn down if impossible to restore, but why senselessly destroy history in order to build a shopping mall or a movie theater that could and should be built elsewhere? That is unfortunately what always seems to happen here in North America.
Another 5 star video.

That's because America has become a fast-paced, junk culture...an industry dictated by financial speculations and investments..when this is the case, how can it preserve historical history or otherwise??? But anyway, European cities have existed far longer and it's nations uphold what's near and dear as well as manage to construct the popular Western tourist traps successfully. European cities put American cities to utter shame.
