This video shows how to create beautiful red henna designs instantly using kum kum. Kum kum is traditionally used to make a bindi dot on the forehead of hindu women.

This product is safe for the skin and comes in assorted colors. The color you see me using today is available on my website http://www.freehandmehndi.com/product/92531/Red-Kum-Kum-Bindi-Bindiya-Paint_1...

  • can a person make homemade kumkum?

  • @jeffreywish Maybe, I don't know.

  • is this ok as hair dye

  • @msmelody1960 No, it is for skin body paint only. It probably wont hurt your hair, but it would be like putting red paint in your hair, and it would make a mess.

  • HI! I just wonder why you paint the finger pads red...is there something symbolic to that?

  • @kimberly3d I'm unsure if there is something symbolic about the fingertips painted solid. You'll find that often in Indian design will have solid tips, not sure why.

  • i just love it

  • its ugly

  • @parthikanadan You Are Right, first of all it is pronounced Koom-Koom, Secondly It is used for Bindis. What you are saying is true=:)

  • @jeffreywish Yes, I have done it Many times.

  • kumkum is for womens to put dot on their forhead

  • im sorry this kumkum (pronounced wrong) is used for married women to put a dot on their forehead. using this as mehindi is misusing the kumkum.

  • I know you re right about kumkum but also there s some water or some times jelly like henna which in hindi called ark-e-henna gives the dark mroonish almost black color .I have request if you could find that from somewhere cause I ve searched enough and failed ,The only way I used to get it was from Pakistan but now a days they dont allow to let that go trough airport .That will be a big help if you could find it or know how to make it here .I miss that henna a lot :)

  • This is actually more commonly used by Indian Classical dancers than Bollywood

  • @jeffreywish yes a person can make homemade kum kum

  • * they call sindhoor (the stuff hindu married women put into their parting) kumkum, too. but thats still a powder. alta is the stuff indian classical dancers put on...and when bollywood actresses dance in those movies, doing semi-classical dance, you get to see alta on their hands and feet, too. :=
