A horse race in Siena, Italy on July 2, 2010, that I attended with some friends from Pepperdine. The race, first run in 1656, involves men riding bareback on horses representing their respective districts of the city. The most unique part about the race is that it is held in a small plaza. It is so small that the horses can't all fit if they were lined up in a row. The event lasts all day, with a n extremely long pre-game show/parade to present the horses accompanied with their knights, drummers, flag twirlers and other people representing their district.
