"I Love My Love" by G. T. Holst-2005 Moriarty High School Messengers (Chamber Choir)

On May 13, 2005, the varsity show choir Messengers of Moriarty High School competed in the Anaheim Music Festival in Anaheim California.

I Love My Love [Cornish Folksong] by G. T. Holst

Abroad as I was walking, one evening in the spring,
I heard a maid in Bedlam so sweetly for to sing;
Her chains she rattled with her hands,
And thus replied she:

"I love my love because I know my love loves me!

O cruel were his parents who sent my love to sea,
And cruel was the ship that bore my love from me;
Yet I love his parents since they're his although
They've ruined me:

I love my love because I know my love loves me!

With straw I'll weave a garland,
I'll weave it very fine;
With roses, lilies, daisies,
I'll mix the eglantine;
And I'll present it to my love
When he returns from sea.

For I love my love, because I know my love loves me."

Just as she sat there weeping,
Her love he came on land.
Then hearing she was in Bedlam,
He ran straight out of hand.
He flew into her snow-white arms,
And thus replied he:

"I love my love, because I know my love loves me."

She said: "My love don't frighten me;
Are you my love or no?"
"O yes, my dearest Nancy,
I am your love, also I am return'd to
Make amends for all your injury;
I love my love because I know my love loves me."

So now these two are married,
And happy may they be like turtle
Doves togheter, in love and unity.
All pretty maids with patience wait
That have got loves at sea;

I love my love because I know my love loves me.

@jaysuhproductions really i graduated 07-and who might this be? any recording of that? no offense but i hear that the choir in moriarty has fallen ever since Mrs. B left! i hope it is not true it was my favorite thing to do besides track and cross

I have the cd's of the competition and Messengers were amazing in San Antonio!! Winning so many awards!!!! My daughter was a member in "08 . The Madrigal was also spectacular that year. Ms.B made them fabulous and it is sorely lacking now that she is gone. Such a shame for the the kids and school.

Wow, I Did This Song When I Was In Concert Choir In William R. Boone High School In My Ninth Grade Year. It Brings Back Many Memories, Hmmm What Year Was That, Hmmm, ...... Oh Yeah, Year 1997-98 Cuz I Still Had My 1st Soprano Voice LOL, Wow A Little Over A Decade Ago, It Has Been O Long.... Well Congratulations, It Is A Beautiful Song, I Hope You All Enjoyed It As Much As I Did.

I love this song!!! I sang it in my choir last year and I loved it!! When I heard the tenor line, I thought it was the melody. It's so beautiful. Thanks for putting this on!!!

Well done. i heard this song performed at festival a few days ago. There are a few slight differences but both are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
