Movie Stores are closing their doors nationwide. Soon, You will not be able to browse your favorite new release at your local movie rental store.

Is this a sign of the times or another victim of the economic crisis?

  • NNice , I do have some issues with Red Box , sometime I come to return the movie and they are full so I am forced to keep it for another day ,, !

  • @uspimpclub - Yes, I found that out the hard way. I also hate it when people are waiting behind me trying to get me to hurry up. Thats why I will miss the Video Stores..

    Thanks pimp for commenting.

  • Some of us still just have "free TV" and a slow internet connection or worse a slow PC.I don't go to video stores much at all anymore but I know many that do.I keep thinking about all the jobs we keep losing in the service area, heck we lost most jobs in the manufacturing area when Clinton enacted NAFTA,I lost my job because of NAFTA in 1997.

  • @SSArt98 That NAFTA crap took my job too.. I was a Lab Tech for Sanmina Corp, A micro chip manufacturing company making good money, Well good for me at the time anyway. Sanmina went to Mexico!

  • have to order through cable or dish. suks.

could be a good retail opportunity for niche rental retailer.

  • @crushingright I cancelled my Dish Network over a year ago because the monthly price doubled to $165/mo after my new customer discount and the $5/mo local channel charge plus $5/mo additional receiver plus HD charges...It got crazy!. When the locals went digital I just hooked up an outside antenna and now I got 20 Los Angeles channels and 15 Phoenix Channels.. Many are in HD and best of all, I pay nothing!

  • Since DVD's are cheaper to buy than to rent. Renting is outdated and not commercial.

iMovies iTunes; is it so hard to think of iRentaMovie?

Most busnesses that "die" forget to change strategy if any change comes allong.

  • I work at the blockbuster dc, the fate of my job rests on a bankruptcy judge today. If sold, blockbuster will be liquidated and 600+ of my fellow employees at the warehouse will likely be unemployed.

  • I hate Netflix. There's no sport in it. It's like buying your own candy on halloween. you go out and you don't know what you'll get. that was fun. Same with movie stores. You don't know what they have and yoo take a chance going there. you looked around until you found something good. That was fun. It was sporting. I miss the late 90's-early 2000's.

  • @presidentofeveryone I too long for the days past. I remember going to the hardware store as a kid for my dad and they would know my name and ask how my family is doing. They even knew to put the items on my dads tab. Strangers would say "Hey Mike, How are you?" -or- "Hey, Hows your family?". These days people wont even look you in the eye in passing.

  • nice vid. wait till i show you whats right across my street.

  • nice video

  • I don't watch movies. I think they're a waste of time and 9/10 of them have subliminal or just plain evil messages. I have seen maybe 5 movies in the past 2 years. I recommend "The Road"...

  • @ArizonaPublic

Dish network and Direct TV are a rip off!

Direct TV nobody would subscribe without NFL ticket.
