About halfway through the flooding from Hurricane Irene, August 27th 2011. My neighbor's pontoon party boat broke loose from their dock, came over the bulkhead, and came across the empty lot to the side of the road. Their sailboat and wave runners got loose as well~ the sailboat came up on the lot; one waverunner wound up in their pool in the back yard, and the other one ended up down the street. Five panels of the other neighbor's fencing, someones's hot tub, and lots of decking also wound up in our yard. It rose another foot to the bottom of our mailbox before it stopped. We were lucky, no property loss, just a huge mess of debris and marsh grass a foot deep. But many of our neighbors, friends, and loved ones were not so lucky, including my own mother, who lost her home.
