increase seating in lecture rooms, that will increase the class capacity. To a prof, teaching 200 or 250 students is not a big deal. TAs have to deal with marking. Ultimately those who want to learn will find a way to get it done. Those who don't will just float through.
Just like some of those students, I work 20-35 hours a week and I am a full time student with 4 classes - 12 credits. If I didn't work I couldn't even afford my living expenses, e.g. internet, phone, hydro, heating (really nice things to have you know, freezing isn't going to help me study) I didn't qualify for loans and I didn't qualify for grants, so I had no other choice but to pay out of pocket for the whole way. Easy? hell no. Fun? definitely not. Taxing mentally and physically? HELL YES!
Dear Maddyheartshotmen I think we all agree with you that not everything should be free, but let me attempt to draw a difference between cars, movies, and education: A good democracy isn't dependent on cars, movies, or computers. Those things might in fact harm a democracy. Education, however, is necessary. Not just so that voters can make good decisions, but to produce the kind of leaders needed to make the right decisions.
Remember Gordon Campbell hates you the poor student!

That is the cost of a well governed state.
