  • I love this place. I slept in it a couple times and felt very safe. I think they should never have taken out the remains though.. surely digging up christian graves would be considered taboo but places like this it is standard practice :/

  • Yes I agree with you and this is far from the first time that the remains have been removed. But scientists insist that much can be learned about ancient cultures from studying their funeral rites.

  • Yeah I'm sure they can, but personally I'm not sure that we should do it. They wanted to be buried, not studied, after all. I think that should be respected, especially now since we already know much about such cultures.

  • Fair point LTD would agree with you.

  • over 14 human skeletons were found int his giant tomb, many containing flint implements. Also found wer animal bones and even a skeleton of a small child. The front entrance was a "false entrance" to warn off thieves and evil spirits an the other entrances were where the burals took place. Live 5 mins away and come up often, its really peaceful.

  • Thanks for the information which is much appreciated.Clearly this one was extant with original remains.

  • most of these tombs were emptied by the people who built them - as part of the ritual of life and death when to tomb was finished with it was emptied and filed with rubbish converting the tomb of the dead into monument for the dead
