If people learn to speak a new language early enough in life, they can speak "like a native"; that is, with the same accent. Learning later, they speak like a foreigner; that is "with an accent". So if he sounds "American", I suppose he learned to speak English from American influence while he was young. That is not incompatible with growing up as a Turkish Muslim, and fits his account.
Obviously FAKE FAKE FAKE! :) He speaks with a perfect American accent :) He is a good actor :) But he should work harder on COPYiNG Turkish accent i think. Ho Ho Ho :)
