The Basics: Hair Dye 101

So I got a bunch of questions in response to my video about dyeing dark hair red, and a lot of them were from girls who were just starting out with dyes - I thought I'd make this basic video about the dyeing process for all of them!

If you've dyed your hair before, you will probably get nothing from this video, so I wouldn't want to waste your time with it.

This video talks about using professional dye products like the ones from Sally's, vs using the boxed dyes from the drugstore

So I tried a semi permanent dye last weekend and it's not as bright of a red as I wanted (because I have black hair and it just came out exactly like you said in your other video...) How long do you recommend I wait for, so that this semi permanent comes out and I can put in a permanent or just start messing with my hair again?

@dmanlax1 Semi-perm is pretty harmless. You can start messing with it again.

if i use loreal hicolor in red with a 30 dev will my hair be red or RED? or should i use a 20dev? lol i hope tht made sense.

@sjk33068 I used it with 40 vol dev and my hair didn't turn out that bright. It was pretty nice, but not like fire engine red or anything.
