On July 12th, 2011, the U.S. House voted on a possible repeal of provisions from the 2007 Energy Efficiency Act. Specifically, the provisions about incandescent light bulbs.
Executive Director, Brett Bittner, spoke with 11Alive News about the vote, the ban, and how the free market is better at determining innovation over the heavy-handed government picking winners and losers.
Legislation does not ban incandescent bulbs in the household... it bans them from sale by 2014 in general stores.

Brett Bittner gets it right again. ... and again. ... and again.
Meanwhile, the fascists in Congress get it wrong again. ...and again. ...and again.
Stand by for welfare funding for the "lightbulb gap", and an emergency increase in the debt to fund mercury vapor poising "epidemics". I predict GE will come swooping in with an "cure" their "heroes" will "innovate".
