Remember: this is only a proof-of-concept! My previous Mode S experiments have used the USRP 1+WBX. With a good antenna and bandpass filter, AvMap has heard squitters at 514 km. Using the cheap RTL2832-based receiver results in far less range (due to poor dynamic range and other mysteries still enabled in the RF chain).
