Meet Pretty, the most glamorous wild turkey hen in the world

Last February Pretty was hanging out with a flock of gobblers—big, tough guys, but they usually left her alone. With a flock of hens she'd be near or at the bottom of the pecking order. The gobblers seemed to be the lesser of two evils. When she came back in July she was scared, skittish, and looked a bit beat up. She's getting better, though. When she comes to get to sunflower seed fix she's waiting right by the sliding glass door. As soon as I slide the door open she's sticking her head inside the house.

Yesterday 3 huge gobblers, all strangers, walked into my yard. I offered than sunflower seeds, they accepted. Wild turkeys don’t just walk up to you. They must have remembered me (or my yard) from years ago. It’s the turkeys who make me happy. It’s I who is indebted to them. Thanks for your interest! —Lee

I would be tempted to shoot one, but it's not fair chase if they're tame and you're feeding them. It's a thrill to be out in the woods and sneak up real close to a true wild turkey, but feeding them like this also seems cool.
