Dont worry it was not just in Nottingham that the Planner's Clod hands destroyed much of the architectural heritage of Birtain. They are still doing it now, no longer so much with buildings but with the Green Belt replacing countyside with Wimpey , Barrett etc Lego housing. How do we stop these Arseholes ??!!

Get a grip it's only bricks and mortar. I feel more upset by the senseless destruction of trees and animals natural habitat and what's happening to the rain forests. Better they knock down the old buildings to make way for progress than they destroy more of the natural world.

Glad I made this Youtube account to be able to comment. I live in Nottingham and it's quite hard to believe that this was once a train station. This historic building shouldn't of been demolished. It's lost all it's beautiful victorian look about it now that some boring old shopping centre!

@nylonTS but at least Get Carter looks quite interesting. I blame T Dan Smith.

I can't watch, it's too depressing.

I may be wrong but this came about because of the Beeching Axe Rail reforms?
Alot of trainlines were simply ripped up in favour of road haulage and an effor to save money for the then public rail service. I think Nottingham Victoria station's line was one of the lines axed.
If the line had been left alone, Nottingham would have had a loads better service to London and the East Coast.
Either way Nottm City Council managed to turn a thing of character and beauty into a total eye sore!! :(

@biopsychosocio you have hit the nail on the head
you should see what planners did to Newcastle On Tyne
Thank go they left the Central Staion alone

@wyattbritt2k9 If Hitler had destroyed Nottingham Victoria then they would have built a new station but the shitheads in planning most cases would have demolished that too, even if it had been concrete!

@nostargmo In Isreal they would!! They just shoot you and drive tracked vehicle overy ou before you bleed to death
I think we destroyed more in the 60's than Hitler did in the 40's. What a crying shame. I never saw this station, just the pit at the north end with blocked up tunnel, viewed from the shopping centre.

They should now do the same to the Victoria Centre, what an absolute shambles that a once great gateway into the city was destroyed due to shortsightedness and absolute disregard to a future transport system within the city, this mistake has cost us billions. We now have the prospect of an expensive tram network that we do not and will not need. Edward Watkin had the foresight to plan for a future Channel tunnel and the Great Central Line was planned well in advance, Beeching had other ideas!
