My favourite scene. Sweet, tender, involving, moving. I had mixed feeling half-way down, but finally watching the last two episodes, " I examined my own heart and there ...Mr Knightley was"! I love JLM's mild, benevolent , tender version. And Romola Garai is such a passionate Emma. I love them both!
Would you like to compare all the proposals in the different adaptations of Emma?

2. ITV Emma 1996 ( Kate Beckinshale/ Mark Strong)

3. Emma - 1996 Film ( Gwyneth Paltrow / Jeremy Northam)

Which is your favourite one?

  • Until yesterday, I was in only in love with Mr. Darcy. Now Mr. Knightley has stolen my heart as well. Hm... time to arrange a nice little "Austen-Men-Harem"... anyone wants to join? :)

  • "If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more."

    Awww!!!

  • One of the simplest and probably the most beautiful love proposal ever. I love the book and the film. I rented from the library and I have watched a couple of times and I am certain that I will watch it again a few more times. It is wonderful to find a good movie in a time when there is a garbage mass production in the film industry.

  • DEFINITELY my favorite version; Knightley melts me with his concern for her over that abominable scoundrel ... he loves her so much. <3

  • @anayellow1 Same here... :)

  • EVERYBODY If you like "Emma", and especially if you love Mr Knighley, you ar HIGHLY recommended to purchase the book(s) "George knightley esquire" 1 and 2. It's Emma from Mr Knightley's point of view, and it is really skillfully written for a fanfiction... I live in Sweden, and I just ordered the two books... I really don't regret it at ALL ; 3

It reallt shows his awesome relashionship wiith John, his noble actions for Hartfield, and his realisation of his feelings.... along with his pain ^^b

  • wow! The best kiss of movies ever till now for me! "my friend..." beautiful!

  • @primuka He's charming but it won't be easy for someone to take Mr. Darcy's place in my heart!

  • @SelenaMulan

I'm in the middle of reading persuasion now. I've already seen 2 versions and while I liked it, didn't really elevate Frederick in my eyes. But I must say the book is a different story. I haven't gotten to the letter part right.

  • @primuka lol I'm still a sucker for Mr. Darcy :)

  • AWW!! If I were Mr. Knightly and she said, "He HAS taken advantage of me; but not injured me." That would piss me off more; and would want to punch Mr. Churchill. He hurt the woman he loves.

  • This part in the book; I keep reading it over and over; cause; if you listen to Knightly u can figure WHY he was jealous. PLUS in the 96 versions; the looks/ words he gave were kind of telling. @liyelongnprosper92; I agree; I've ALWAYS loved that line; its SOO simple but SOOO romantic!! If I think of the begining of this one; when he complained about her NOT marrying it actually makes sense; he wanted to her to marry HIM!!!!!!
