I'm afraid this won't be very helpful, but I'll keep trying. Search around and you'll find other people making how to crochet videos. One of them is bound to be better than this. I bet they have expensive cameras and lights and everything. Anyway, I'll try to translate some of the codes and abbreviations used in crochet patterns, but you might need a basic book or website or some other videos to see close-ups of stitches and what they look like. I think Lionbrand.com has some text and videos showing how to crochet basic stitches.

The elephant pattern I'm using is free from Lionbrand.com. Look up pattern # 70582AD.

  • I taped about a half hour total last night, but didn't have time to edit more of it. I'm going to try to film some close-up shots of doing simple stitches. Also I thought if I do it with a huge crochet hook, it will make each stitch bigger and maybe easier to see. Some light colored yarn instead of that dark purple.

  • Yay thats my elephant i ordered :D

  • @princessshortie29 The light purple "lilac" color is the one I'm making for you, same color as the one I showed in Melinda's video.

  • Hay i love it its so so cool to see a man crochet

  • I was at the dollar tree a few weeks ago and they had crochet needles i think it was 1 dollar a pack and in the pack was many size's and colors , I bought a pack to use on another project i was working on and only needed one so i got the rest in my pen/pencil cup on my desk. This video gave me the idea i would like to make me a nice warm cap for this coming winter and with my abnormally large large head(lol) it's hard to find a cap that fits well and is warm. Thanks Rob and take care

  • I wish i could get this down.
