Ray Price & the Cherokee Cowboys at the old Austin Opry House in 1990, featuring Buddy Emmons, Darrell McCall, Buddy Spicher, Moises 'Blondie' Calderon and Johnny Bush.
I recall vividly when he cut this track. He was showin' the youngsters what a great country up-tempo performance by olde doc was all about. The 'A' team present and accounted for here.
@leighschu Sad to say, I've never heard of the man but you're right, he is/was special. Its a pity that we (the Human Race) can't, on the whole, appreciate talent such as this properly until we get the 'wrong side' of 40, by which time we've been and done all the 'crazy and bad' things that we, as Humans often do. Maybe its designed like that, so that Human-kind can progress? Whatever - sorry for the philosophy break - thanks for posting this great work. :-)
This Was JUST Awesome ~Had the pleasure of meeting both Ray Price and Buddy Emmons while i was palying way back when in Portland Or ~Glad to call them both freinds and great people ~Steve
MASTER STEELMAN BUDDY EMMONS....I saw him when he first joined E.T.s band....about 19 years old....and Ernest walked up behind Buddy and twisted his ear pretty good after telling story of Buddy holding up the bus after meeting a girl at their last gig...this was at Hodgenvlle, Kentucky
Seeing Blondie playing piano takes me back many years to an evening in Del Rio where he walked into his restaurant just about when we finished our meal and after chatting with the staff a bit sat down at a big grand piano and started to play, and played and played for maybe two hours while everyone sat tranfixed, he was so good. This was maybe a year or less before he died suddenly. What a loss, thanks for posting this, you brought back a magical evening.
I love to here Price sing, but Darrell and Johnny are just about as good. Love that Whiskey River by them!
