I do the same thing. Once, I was sitting in front of my bathtub, waiting for the water to heat up; a GIANT black and yellow spider randomly appeared. I stared at it, SLOWLY moved away, grabbed a towel and ran like hell towards my room.

When I was in Indonesia I was in the flat bathroom, just got out of the shower, and i was doing my stuff a,d I saw a spider on the counter top, so, I grabbed what I could to kill it, which was a random magazine, and then it started to jump. it jumped clear across the sink, and having only seen carious small, non-jumping spiders while living in Alberta, I freaked, grabbed my towel, wrapped it around me, and proceded to jump around after said spider, smacking it until I was sastisfied it was dead.

I didn't fully understand this video until yesterday when a giant spider crawled up the wall and on top of the toilet roll dispenser in my bathroom. I'll give you three guesses where I was, what I was doing and what I needed to use.

Tolkien actually writes in his foreword to LOTR that he didn't intend it to be allegorical and though it was written in the time surrounding WWII, he had the idea of the rings, Sauron etc. long before. So yes, war is a theme, and many themes in LOTR obviously translate into our world, but I don't think social commentary is its goal.
