"Enigmatic and opaque, these figures remind me of similar statuary from Africa where the blank expressions make one wonder what are these characters thinking, or dreaming? They're almost like formal puppets in a ritual drama. No matter what you do to tease some emotion into their faces, they resist the coloration and refuse to yield to interpretation!

The spare lyre music evokes for me a sense of secret forest groves and a highly refined civilization whose story has been lost to antiquity.
