William Croft's Ground in C-minor from his Suite No. 3. This piece was once attributed to Henry Purcell, but it's included in its entirety in Croft's suite in the Stainer and Bell edition of the Complete Harpsichord music of William Croft.

This is my first video upload with more to follow as time permits. I will be playing my clavichord and grand piano as well in future recordings.

This was played on my Roland C-30

  • For its technical advantages, I should like to have one of these. But I'm very disappointed with the stained-glass panels and choice of key color. Roland ought have made a double-manual model, too. I think the previous generation was much more aesthetically pleasing; at this price, I think aesthetics are important.

I agree with you on the looks. the older generation looked a lot better. It is a great practice and recording instrument. I've made some digital recordings of myself playing some other works by Croft and his contemporaries. I too keep hoping for a double manual version as well. The single is a bit limited particularly with Scarlatti and Bach.

  • I have a real clavichord. Check out my Clavichord Recital.

This maybe a digital instrument, but it sure serves its purpose because of the lack of space.

  • This piece is so similar to the purcell new ground in e minor.

  • @Clavichordist And of Bach, I am reminded that he played on a pedal-harpsichord. One can at least get the two manuals and pedal from Roland's new Classic Organ; though, I am still somewhat disappointed with the appearance. I think draw-knobs and reversed key color should benefit it. The action still shouldn't be the same, but I wonder if there might ever be designed an organ that could engage plucking action. Then again, why not leave it and have a harpsichord-organ and not vice versa?

  • Nice sound!

  • Even though it looks like a clavichord, it is really a digital harpsichord. Actually it does not have a clavichord sound built in, only two harpsichord sounds (French and Flemish), two organ stops, a celesta and a fortepiano.

  • nice! i'll be ordering one of these this coming week... really looking forward to it.... i'm curious... is there anything about it that you don't really like? send me a message if anything comes to mind

  • for that price you can buy a real clavichord with a REAL sound.... this sounds real japanese.

  • Excellent work again! I really like the sound of your keyboard. 5/5
