So it looks like I'll have to upgrade this from a coil motor to a boiler. The fire just isn't putting enough energy to the coil to move it at a decent clip. The awning, however, came together nicely (at least until the flame melted the solder).

  • dude if you want more speed you neeed to put water in the tail pipes and a beer cap on the coils also with water in it :D

  • @SketchyGraffiti I did fill the tailpipe with water, but what's the beer cap for?

  • You have to fill the entire pipe with water and THEN light it. They only move half speed or less if you never fill the pipe with water. Check other videos on these boats. It should make an audible "put put" sound when it is running right.

  • @jayman218 The putt putt sound is from a flexible metal boiler panel in the system, which this design lacks. Coil motors don't make much noise. And I did fill the coil with water before igniting the flame.

It's just a really narrow inside diameter and a lousy flame.

  • if ur ever gonna get rid of this i will give you $10 for that bitch!!!!

  • @Darwinpasta it act like a boiler

  • Makeing the tail pipes biger may increes the speed.

  • @Darwinpasta In case you haven't come across it, this builder has many models on his channel as well as a great link to a french site all about putt putt efficiency and thrust data etc. Very helpful.

    Happy Building!

  • @Darwinpasta Thanks for the reply. I see now that the noisy ones have a diaphragm. After rewatching your video i see the camera cuts out between lighting and placing in the water in order for you to fill the tubes. Your boat just seemed a little slow for the size of the flame and tubing.
