I've never appreciated the bridge pickup on my strat. But man, you make it sound good!

My face has been melted...again - haven't watched this video in about two years :)

Absolutely epic mate.

not an easy solo at all.. and you just naild it!!! PERFECT!!! you impressed me!!. awesome.
-
Wow - very impressed!

He began as a pianist, so it's natural to expect him to fall back on arpeggios whenever possible. He definitely has a pianistic style to his playing, and it's extremely obvious on this track in particular.

Good one keep on recording ;)

boost the lows and mids to the max. then damp the highs bigtime. add some dark reverb and ur done.

SSVR - Hey, bro...E7Sharp9 (David) from the EJ forum...just found your YT page.
Very nice playing. My strat looks just like yours - 08 American Std, 3-tone burst with rosewood.

@MinorScaleProphet Hey, good to see you here! Thx for the kind words. Strats are just great instruments aren't they...especially when they're set up right. Now if i could just find myself a nice maple neck on a sonic blue body out there...

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to comment, appreciate it. 'Lonely in the Night' is an incredible song, as is #9 on the same Venus Isle album, 'When the Sun Meets the Sky'. If you're reading this and have not bought the album, please stop to mourn the loss of valuable musical listening time. Then rush out and go buy it! :-)

Remember what I told you at the Manhattan vid, about nailing EJ's sound with a Strat? Well, you did buy one, and not just any Strat, it had to be EJ's tobacco sunburst! Yeah! And nail that sound you did. More gullible people would have believed it was actually Eric that's playing, except for the change from maple neck to mahogany (is it?) and the hidden face. Haha! Great playing, man. More.

Thanks chuffamocco. It's a rosewood fretboard. Out of the dozens of strats I tried, only this one resonated with me. What Eric says is very true: every strat has its own personality. The next one I'm getting will definitely have a maple neck.

Excellent, as always, ssvr!
BTW, is that a new guitar?

Thanks, yes it is. Some people have said that Leo Fender was in a state of grace when he designed the Fender Strat, I would have to agree ;-)
