The Z28 is a auto with nitrous and my SS is a vortech supercharged M6. My optispark is finally crapping out on me. feels like im hitting the rev limiter at 4000 rpm.

  • @86zboss your 93 is right about what i would expect for a FI LT1 with an auto. it obviously would have been faster with at good opti. I do all my own work, and it is tricky to get that thing replaced without getting coolant on it.

i was able to get my hands on a factory GM replacement opti for 200 bucks. i never made it back to the track after i replaced it. but it pulled like a raped ape! huge difference. but the good ETs are more about having a good set up than HP. M6 isnt it....

  • @86zboss yeah, i was joking too. i was running about 5psi with my vortech and put down about 400 to the wheels. like mentioned before, my opti was crapping out, and even with the 315/35 17" (12") mickey thompson DRs i would light them up. Or it would grab on an easy launch and bog. Horrible 60's equal horrible ETs. I would have thought that the auto with nitrous would have been much faster.

  • Also I had that EXACT same problem. It will pull right to 4k then fall on its face and it keeps hitting a "rev limiter" sound/feel. Although when I brought the RPM's up slow it would go up to 5700 just when there was no or light load. I replaced my opti with a Msd billet unit unit 600.00 later and It is still doing the same thing but I have the 1993 vented so I think the shop might have ruined it by letting antifreeze drip on it or something of the sorts.

Lol I was joking about the crack..now the cars on the other hand I was serious. I have a 1993 Trans Am LT1 totally stock motor other than injectors and its auto, with a turbo @ 7psi and dyno tune. Put down 348rwhp and I ran a 12.6 with good street tires (nitto 555's 10.5). STOCK LT1 cars run low 14's to mid 13's. Your saying a forced induction setup or spraying only gains a few tenths?

  • @86zboss well i do not smoke crack, nor am i smoking it at the moment.

read the description. My car is the SS. And I am the one driving it.

due to traction problems (launching the M6 isnt easy with a blower) my best 60' ever was 2.13, and my best ET ever was a 12.98 @ 112mph. with a half decent 60' i could have run low 12s with my trap speed being 112. also, my optispark distributer was dying on me.

i dont know what to say for the auto with N2O. These are LT1s not LS1s. In the real world.

  • LMAO You are smoking crack.....Those cars are bone stock. With juice or forced induction even on mild settings these cars are easy 11-12 second cars.
