Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), the top two Congressmen on the House Budget Committee, advanced a bipartisan budget reform bill today that would make it easier to cut wasteful and unecessary spending.

In a bipartisan effort, leaders from the House Budget Committee introduced the Expedited Line-Item Veto and Rescissions Act earlier today. Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., and Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., joined MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports to discuss this effort to target wasteful Washington spending.

  • At least they're talking about cuts...but Congress can't even cut $1.2T over 10 years starting in 2013 and those aren't even real cuts, but are cuts in the increased budgets!

When it takes about the same amount of money as Brazil's GDP to run our govt, that's a problem. The govt should be cut by at least 33%, not these 0.0001% piddly cuts.

    The world needs Ron Paul!

  • @poindexterwitkowsky When will you Libtards understand that tax rates don't equal govt revenues? JFK realized this. Since the '50s, govt revenue has remained flat at about 19% of GDP (really flat..fluctuations are only about +-1%) while tax rates fluctuated from 90% to 28%.

Did you know that the Bush tax cuts made the rich pay more and the bottom 50% pay less? In 2000, The top 1% paid 37% of all taxes in 2000 vs. 40% in 2007. Bottom 50% went from 4% to 3%. Spending's the problem, not rev.

  • Some guys we wish would run but will not, some guys we wish would go away but are perennial candidates.

  • ~~^~^~^Since GOP Clown god, Ronald Reagan, Republicans have been waging CLASS WARFARE on the working people of America. The EFFECTIVE TAX RATE for the wealthest individuals and for corporations is the lowest in 50 yrs. Almost all Republicans have signed on to the GROVER NORQUIST no tax increase PLEDGE. Because of these COWARDLY TREASONOUS REPUBLICANS we now have a serious REVENUE problem which should be a matter of NATIONAL SECURITY~!^~^~^~^. Is there not ONE REAL MAN IN THE LOT?~~^~^~^~^

  • Good job, Congressmen Ryan and Van Hollen. It is refreshing to see members of Congress sincerely work together in the interest of the nation because too many others apparently prefer to place party interests above those of the people. I intend to send an e-mail to my congressman asking him to support this bill. If he does not do so, his constituents will then know where his priorities really lay.

  • Our only chance is compromise go get um @ryan

  • @KarenJoyOSC What do you like about Paul Ryan that you don't like about say, Ron Paul?

  • This bill is a good step in the right direction. Shame the savings into Congress! Good Job Guys!

  • @KarenJoyOSC I'm well aware, but I still post it every video
