@Sumsar1594 Maybe it helps putting the mind intro a trance and therefore blocking any thoughts that might interfere with your reaction time. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if samurai themselves chanted off like this. For all I know they did it in the movie The Last Samurai during yabusame training.

I am going to Japan in the Fall. There will be a Kyudo demonstration where I am going, so I will get to see it first-hand. Can't wait.
