The Census 2010 is here and the question is "What does it mean for the Taíno community?" History as written can be interpreted from different perspectives.

From the point of view of many academics who devote their time to study and investigation of the chronicles left by the Spaniards - they believe that these documents are truths of their time and "it is what it is". From their perspective it is hard historical science and not inventions, imagingings or magically produced claims. One should accept these documents as fact - left behind by the historians during the conquest for all to learn.

From the perspective of the Tainos if the the academic communities were to examine closely at the historical documents available and written by those who may or may have not been part of the conquest during the early colonization of Borikén/Puerto Rico - it clearly reveals the origins of the myth of Taíno extinction.

Some say the problem with the census process of that era, which had no fixed standards, were filled with inaccuracies and misinformation - "maybe". What about Census 2010? What opportunities are there this time around? Will the same process that counted the Taínos out of existence centuries ago - now count them back to life? It seems that the answer for the Taíno community is in their hands - once again?

  • If you are from Puerto Rico you might carry Taino DNA! If you want to see if this is true just start by looking into your family history past. You might be surprise! Taino lives in us, in our DNA share the news.

  • @Domingo12754 yea but thats only been tested in ONE bloodline, witch is the mothers bloodline, "the Mt-DNA" one. You also need to test out your "Y-DNA" witch is the paternal lineage.

The bottom line is that you need to test your whole entire bloodline. A autosomal test will determine your full ancestry and its more accurate too!

  • Y dna is one bloodline as well on male side, u mean autosmal mean both parent.

  • So it is easy to get tricked into believing that we light skinned latinos are from a roman spanish bloodline, like me, there are many latinos throughout latinamerica and the united states who come from sephardic jew bloodline,GET YOUR GENEOLOGICAL DNA DONE! so no one can tell you who you are,the proof is in the blood,I commend these boriquas for being pioneers of discovereing their true identity and also discovering the truth behind the lie, blessings to the tainos and all the indigenous nations

  • I got my geneological DNA test done, and I found out I am a mexican american with SEPHARDIC JEW bloodline, I am the descent of the crypto sephardic jew ancestors that were victims of persecution by the spanish roman catholics during the inquisition, sephardic jews that were brought to the new world without their will were also tortured and burned at the stake here in the americas, they suffered along with the indigenous people, most sephardic jews are caucasion white just as the roman spaniards

  • Did you know that during the spanish inquisition many SEPHARDIC JEWS were incarcerated unjustly for heresy in spain? did you also know that when queen isabela gave columbus and the rest of the christian spaniards permission to take all the spanish prisoners to the americas, guess who they also took along with the rest of the prisoners? yes thats right, SEPHARDIC JEWS! MANY OF US LATINO BLANQUITOS WERE FED LIES IN HISTORY MAKING US THINK WE ARE DECENDENTS OF SPANIARDS WHEN IN REALITY WE ARE JEWS!

  • Geneology DNA tests are in the trend, get yours done, more and more people are finding out their true identity and bloodline, the history books written by the hand of the eurolieing thiefs are full of conspiracies and are no longer the ultimate historical truth, and if you are a white hispanic like me and thought all this time your ancestors were the brutal spaniards that invaded the americas, THINK AGAIN and do your own research, CONTINUED

  • @cristian1784 . Yes this is a very good question. However deeper studies have now shown that 84% of the all the DNA material investigated is Taino and only 16% comes from out side indigenous contribution.

  • @yariboricua

I saw this show to. I really love this show because is changing boundaries in all over the world. Some how we all are related to each other. If only people can understand this it would be a better world. I am proud to have Taino roots. I am part black, part Spanish and Taino. What a mix!!! but it is a beautiful one.

  • @flowerbull2 I onder if there is a way to indeed trace the DNA characteristics?

I saw on "Who do you think you are" that they traced someone's DNA to a specific tribe in Africa... they could do the same with us, no?

I am physically such a mixture of Taína and Negra! I LOVE IT!

  • I am sad that I NEVER thought of this!!!!

Why didn't I think of this?

Next census, I will definitely keep this in mind!
