"Summoning" was performed at the Canadian Music Centre, Toronto on October 2, 2010 for Nuit Blanche.
Summoning is a musical séance meant to evoke the spirits of the home in addition to paying general respect to the practice of paranormal investigations. In this piece the two musicians (Celtic harp and bodhran/auxiliary percussion) with an electro-acoustic recording use mystical Pagan techniques to raise energy and invite the home's spirits to join us in the present. Summoning combines Celtic flavours with avant-garde techniques to create an intimate, ethereal experience meant to bring the historical energies of the house to life.
Matthew Tran-Adams, composer, Celtic harp
Anne Adams, bodhran, Tibetan bowl
Patrick Xu, camera person
