This is a great first time quilt project. 50 squares? My first quilt was flannel and it had 400+ squares, no batting and took me about 6 months to make. I had to take a break and do another 80 hour project just to break the monotony.
So again, for a first time project this is perfect and should give the satisfaction of getting a quilt DONE. Sometimes the design or idea you have takes a lot to figure out how to get into production. That's why YT is great you can see what you're getting into.

I love the flannel that you used for the squares, but can't seem to find any flannel that isn't in a little kid pattern. Where did you get the flannel that you used for the quilts shown in this tutorial.

It's interesting that you didn't clip the edges of the little squares so they fray up nicely.
