It's also somewhat risky to pull this move on an Andorian due to the possibility of getting one of his antennae lodged in your rectum. Kudos to Kirk for being brave enough to try it anyway!

It seems the intended purpose for kirk to hop off the wall was to increase impact force to prevent the "Andorian" from getting up. But it only served as a disadvantage because he hurt himself in the process. The "Andorian" took very little impact force. Most of it went on the floor.

yeah, notably the door sliding shut at the very beginning and the diplomate disappearing around the corner. Strange that he didn't see or hear the fight and call security. I always wondered about how convenient it was that the corridor was deserted at just the right time. Now we know that it wasn't!
