Martin Sheen on Church/State Separation

A lot of these people don't seem to realize that mixing church and state is a double-edged sword. Many of us presume separating church and state prevents the church from controlling the government... but it also prevents the government from controlling the church.

I'm not so sure many of these evangelicals would appreciate going to church and learning about how George Washington anointed Jesus.

I follow this concept. I am a Roman Catholic and a Left Wing Liberal. Jesus our Lord said "Give what is due Ceasar and give what is due to God". I love my Church as much as I love God and I love them all equally with our Republic. I think it is not right to teach the Bible as a fact in Public Schools if you want to learn about God go to Church that's where to go.

don t worry ,, this good for nothing religion ,, that has done nothing but cause misery ,, abused children, supported wars on both sides.. made money on spilt blood, invested with the likes of hitler.. is going down.. it will be brought down soon.. they will reap what they have sown within the last 1000 years.. i would not want to be in the popes $4,500.00 slippers ....

I am a member of a Church first and as such I should not be taxed by the State.
Taxation on me by the state is crossing over into the Church authority; thus government is violating the separation principle.
Nor should the laws of the state override the laws of the Church.

Isnt it odd how this issue is never about separating church and state?
Instead it is always just hate speech against Christians.

you sound like someone who is uninformed... you dont have a special exemption from paying taxes because of what magic you believe in.... hell, we could all claim to be delusional and therefore not pay taxes, lol. its about the 'orginizarions' and government. they should not cross lines or
