Hey Rodney, I love the new videos you been putting up lately, I've learned tons in the past few days watching them.

I'm looking to build my first computer and I have a budget of $1500 to work with, I've trying to decide between the AMD Phenom II x4 955 and Intel's Core i7 920. At a chance the 3.2GHz vs 2.66GHz seems like a no brainer but I've read a lot of reviews in favor of the i7 920, in your opinion which would be the better choice? The system will be used for both gaming and graphic design.

Thanks much!

  • AMD is for people who have better things to spend their money on than overpriced CPU's. Like hot woman for example. Gotta budget for the ladies, not the nerds. Don't hate the playa.

  • This is not a comparison...

    It's an Intel commercial!!

  • 240p we meet again :/

  • a i3 2100 beats the phenom 955 how stupid you must be to compare it with a i7 from the old generation

  • @dioel0705 How's your AMD so far? I've been looking for an upgrade, Been using an ATI Card. and is considering moving to AMD since Intel is so damn expensive. But I'm concerned about quality, heat, and watts. or even compatibility.

do let me know your thoughts and experience.

  • I don't like injustice of any kind. So why can't AMD chips get equality in the review stakes. ? It's so unfair that the reviews of 90% of Intel i7 930 vs AMD Thuban reviews are skewed in favour of intel and their design.

The only place doing equality reviews seems to be Tom's hardware. Which shows that the Thuban is a match for the i7 930 (a great chip by the way).

  • @blueovalfan23 You should join. You get to talk about nerdy stuff like this all day. They have better info than I do. :D

I can't wait for the end of the month :D

  • @SamuraiBatgirl that makes sense, i was thinking that i5. didn't think about folding. never messed with and don't really know what it's about. as for the ocn, no i do not.

  • @blueovalfan23 I do folding@home. The hyper threading that the i7's have allows you to do the -bigadv work units (the BIG ones). The 2700k is also supposed to be a higher binned 2600k so while overclocking it's likely one can go to higher clocks speeds. :D

I also game. If gaming was all I did though, I'd go for the 2500k. I can't wait! :D

Do you have an OCN account?

  • @SamuraiBatgirl nice choice. idk if i would drop that much on cpu even if it is on sale. there's only so much power i need lol. that's very nice of you to give it to your parents. if they're like my parents, that will be very much overkill. hope they like it. seriously, if i can ask, what do you need that much power for?

  • @blueovalfan23 I understand. I have an Athlon II 620. =P

Getting a 2700k Black Friday - Cyber Monday weekend.

Probably gonna give this rig to my parents or something. They'll still have something decent.

  • @SamuraiBatgirl you have a point in that price range but it's very hard to get anything intel in the sub $100 area worth having. amd is completely different at that price point. i know not everyone is gonna cheap out on a cpu but i did and i very pleased with mt athlon II 450.
