The knife shown is a japanese traditional knife called Yokote-Kogatana. It was sharpened using Baikalox 0.05CR (50nm) polishing suspension, at the edge angle of approximately 28 degrees.
This video shows the knive's cutting a hanging toilet paper without shagginess.

  • you dont need a very sharp blade to do that... its toilet paper and you went at it with a puncture first...

  • @istephan007 OK. You are too young to know what sharpness is.

  • @Matsuzo241 knowledge is not age restricted

  • @istephan007 Of course. How old is your age and how much you have knowledge, the experience is another. Get out and try sharpening, then speak.

  • @Matsuzo241 i have sharpened before many times and this test doesn't show much now the hair stropping one...DAMN!

  • @istephan007 sharpness is not times restricted :-) BTW, even a knife that can easily whittle a hair doesn't always cut the hanged toilet paper like this. SEE ALSO v=8kzmFaD_lRw ..."DAMN" is a greeting word used in the US Marine, I konw ;-)

  • the tip went through the paper first....then you used the momentum to force it down. this "test" showed nothing about the blades sharpness, maybe the tip is lol.

  • @highwaymaan I bet you could not get the same result with a steak knife. Please go and try it. It will tear every time. Only the sharpest knives pass such a test of cutting a hanging light material like this.

  • thats not sharp, you just ripped it with the momentum of the blade. you pretty much suck

  • @highwaymaan Uploading a video proving it, on the other hand...

  • @istephan007 I've gotten most of my knives sharp enough to shave hair (my AK Bowie being a one example here on Youtube), but then I can try a test like this and fail to get the same results as the uploader of this video. As others have said, TP is a light, delicate form of paper, and getting a cut THAT long and that clean is a real feat.

  • @istephan007 are you being sarcastic? or are you just ignorant? most sharp knives will shave arm hairs and then fail at the toilet paper test...this knife is obviously SCARY SHARP because anything less will just rip toilet paper.. so my guess is you dont have knives, and you're not into sharpening knives, therefore you're just ignorant.

  • pretty damn sharp!!! good job, how did you sharpen it?

  • @istephan007 trolling is much easier than cutting toilet paper with knife.

  • i did the same test as a kid ,, i think i used a pencil or stick or something

  • @Serkant75 that IS the full blade, after that comes a wooden handle. really.
