Promotional video to increase awareness of the US Census in 2010.
We need all Caribbean-Americans to complete the 10 questions of the census and mail it in by April 1st, 2010. This will benefit your community, your schools, your hospitals etcetera so you can receive better funding from the Federal Governtments $400Billion per year budget.
Go to www.CaribLifeCentral.com for more information on the "I Am Caribbean" Census campaign.

  • @inquisitive871 Many of us live in Caribbean neighborhoods. If the census really allocates federal funds to neighborhoods as they say, entire neighborhoods can be left out because we were NEVER recognized in the census. Besides not all West Indians are black ----- we have Indians, Chinese, white and mixed race persons.

Besides, if the Asians and Latinos/Hispanics are allowed to specify THEIR nationality by country, then why not Caribbean folks.

  • Kewl!! I luv this! Its time we have our own check box, bout "other"

  • @Yahcna oh ok

  • @Xaymaicana Wow, it's been a year since I made that comment, but never was I saying ALL black Caribbean are ashamed of their blackness. You are indeed Caribbean now, but what I DID say was, there are many West Indians that do not like to be referred to as black, and prefer to identify with their geographic nationality because black has been sub-consciously programmed to be related to negative things and stereotypes that they want no part of. I know many whom feel that way. It's the truth.

  • @kngston20 exactly. i want the shirt too!

  • @inquisitive871 because we are not just black. we have different ethnicities and races that make up the caribbean. its like putting 'latino' when latin america is comprised of different races. so if west indian should not be on the census neither should 'hispanic'.

  • @Yahcna What? So by saying we are caribbean we don't want to be black? BUAHAHAHAAHAHA! XD

  • @CosmicEdgeDesignz GOOD POINT! We are of African descent but the native Caribbeans not only accepted us and fought with us against the colonial powers but also mixed with our ancestors. So we a rightfully claiming the Caribbean as our home. The most diverse and beautiful region of the world BIG UP!!

  • @CosmicEdgeDesignz This is not the case for most of them. I know this for a fact. Espcially on islands like Barbados where some of my ancestors were slaves. Fact is, most AFRO-Caribbeans look darker and more African than Afro-Americans because there was less miscegenation with slavemasters and natives. So most need to let that Native Ancestry fantasy loose, they aint claiming you! Nothing to get over, just the facts. ;)

  • @Yahcna

Actually you are INCORRECT - Many Caribbean peoples have ancestral Indigenous Kalinago / Arawak / or Taino blood running through their veins - so for many,

The Caribbean IS their Ancestral Homeland

    GET OVER IT!! :)
