Ysaÿe Trio and Hanna Shybayeva perform the first movement of Beethoven's Symphony Nr 3 Op. 55 in E-flat Major "Eroica" in the arrangement by one of Beethoven's students - Ferdinand Ries for piano quartet. Live on dutch Television program 'Vrije Geluiden' in 2009.

  • Interesting experiment. What if Beethoven got his inspiration earlier in life and wrote a Piano Quartet? It would not have been called the "Eroica" because, at least in this stately interpretation, there is nothing heroic about it. However, it would have been a very fine piece of music, just not revolutionary.
