This is a short fragment from my recitation of Amida kyo or Smaller Amida Sutra in the Hondo (practice hall) of Tariki Dojo Craiova.
Recitation is done in this style and in sino-japanese so that Jodo Shinshu followers from all over the world can have a common liturgy when we meet. Also, chanting in this language and style is helpful for concentration and is calming the mind. It is more useful than if we chant it in our own language. But of course, we have the translation into English and Romanian of the texts we are chanting, so we clearly know the content.
I mention that to learn how to recite and chant texts like these is not difficult at all, because we have the phonetic transcription of the characters.
My opinion is that this recitation is very good for people who come to the dojo directly from their every day busy and stressful life, to calm and concentrate their minds by reciting this sutra in order to prepare themselves for hearing the Dharma talk. It creates a good atmosphere for listening the Dharma and is very devotional.
Inagaki Sensei told me that recitation of this sutra is also very helpful to people who have inner problems and I have a lot :), so I often use it in my personal recitation.
