Monsanto Mobile Technology Unit Tours U.S. to Showcase Innovation for Farmers
Monsanto's unique Mobile Technology Unit -- a custom-made 18 wheeler that can run on biofuels -- has begun touring throughout the United States, showcasing innovations in plant breeding and biotechnology to support farmer success.
The new 53-foot-long traveling unit, with 1,000 square feet of exhibit space, will visit rural communities, agricultural trade shows and other special events across the country. In its first year, it is expected to make an estimated 40 stops, hosting tours for thousands of invited farmers, family members and other participants.

"That is why we are so strongly committed to developing new technologies that can help farmers increase their yields, improve their profitability and participate in new market opportunities for their crops."
Aboard the Mobile Technology Unit, farmers will first view an introductory video featuring football legend and farm boy Kurt Warner, and then take a guided tour through exhibit areas which feature displays, videos and interactive elements about breeding, crop analytics, biotechnology, product pipeline and ethanol.
Each year, hundreds of farmers get the chance to tour Monsanto's Chesterfield Village laboratories and greenhouses and see for themselves how the nearly $2 million dollar a day research investments pay off for farmers. But not everyone can make it to St. Louis to take the tour. Thus, The Mobile Technology Unit brings the tour on the road. Visitors will discover how Monsanto seed breeders are using "exotic" seed germplasm from around the world to develop new, high-performing crops for U.S. farmers. They will see how new biotech genes are being developed that not only provide improved weed and insect control, but also improved stress tolerance, healthier food oils and stronger yields.
Following the tour, visitors will have the opportunity to view ethanol exhibits positioned outside the Mobile Technology Unit, including an on-site ethanol production demonstration unit.
