  • reminds me a bit "waltz of the mushroom hunters" which is one tune I have never heard buddy do live....EVER!

  • Yea,it;s a great chart & when we think back to those days, at lot of buddies book was written in 3/4 6/8 sigs.& buddy was at home here.Don't know why he did'nt keep this great chart or even record it.Ah well at least we have this live take.

  • Cheers MrNoChops,i'm getting my street names mixed up.thanks for that info.

  • Ok Mike, inquiring minds want to know. Who are you and how do you come up with these great clips for salivating Buddy fans?

    Much appreciation by the way.

  • @bodgaard I have 1 of these recordings on DVD - it's from '84 I think maybe you were still there ? get in touch and I'll make you a copy it's 1 of my favorites of ALL_TIME ! ! Has Night Blood by Bill Cunliffe and all the other great arrangements !

  • From a year earlier - here's a great track (in your video responses) that is NOT on the US issue of the album. I was THERE that night at Ronnie's and am amazed they left THIS one OUT...

  • There's Ernie Wise again!! lol

  • JESUS CHRIST this is freakin' awesome!!

Pat LaBarbera is a genius and thx b to John for composing all this wonderful music!!!

  • Hey that guy on trombone sounds like the guy that did the whole-tone lik at the end of the solo in Kilimajar Cookout on "Roar"

  • Great sound. You can tell right away how good these guys are; prescision, timing, dynamism, syncopation, is all there.

  • great, first viewing for me, thanks. I first saw Buddy at Buddy's Place( Nov '74) ...was this video broadcast...thanks again.

  • He's great

  • Great clip I have never seen this before!

I love the Roar of '74 album that's my fave Buddy album, even though the cover is a little embarressing :)

I wish he has played more of it live.

  • It is rumoured that buddy sounded horrible on 6/8 tunes prior to 67 when diabolus was brought to the band and buddy just couldn't 'get it" [info comes from traps the drum wonder] and evidence exists with that same tune in the alternate take of the same tune from the album "new one" of course, it's breath taking to hear the released version of diabolus ! seems like after that album his 6/8 3/4 groove was simply untouchable!
